Despite a rare weekend away from the diamond, the West Virginia baseball team maintained its positions in a pair of national polls this week.

D1Baseball.com ranked the Mountaineers No. 23 in its weekly Top 25 polls. WVU has been ranked in all four of D1Baseball’s polls so far this season. West Virginia also checked in at No. 30 in this week’s NCBWA Top 30 poll, also released on Monday.

WVU was away from the diamond this past weekend after having to pause all team activities due to COVID-19 protocols. A three-game home series against Kent State and a non-conference game against Marshall were postponed in the wake of the seven-day pause.

The Mountaineers have started the season 4-3, winning their most recent game against Bryant at the end of February. WVU’s next scheduled game is the first of a three-game series against Central Michigan on Mar. 11-13. That series against the Chippewas will now also serve as the Mountaineers 2021 home opener.
