WVU Basketball Drops Significantly in KenPom After Houston Loss

WVU basketball dropped 10 spots in the KenPom rankings after losing 77-48 to No. 7 Houston Tuesday.

The Mountaineers went from No. 59 to No. 68 with a net rating of 12.21.

West Virginia has a resume of a 70-54 win over Mount Saint Mary’s, a 73-65 win over Campbell, a 69-47 victory over Lehigh, a 71-49 domination of Pitt in the Backyard Brawl,81-59 blowout win over Lafayette, a 70-38  routing of Mercyhurst, a 91-49 blowout win over Coppin State, a 90-58 win over Little Rock, an 86-51 win over MVSU,  62-60 win over Cincinnati, and an 86-75 upset over Kansas.

Looking at the rest of the Big 12, Arizona is No. 2, Iowa State is No. 4, Houston is No. 6, BYU is No. 11, Kansas is No. 17, Texas Tech is No. 23, Baylor is No. 39, UCF is No. 47, TCU is No. 52, Cincinnati is No. 61 and Oklahoma State is No. 64.

WVU started last season at No. 87 in the KenPom rankings and ended at No. 51.
