WVU Products Kysre Gondrezick and Bria Holmes Set to Open 2021 WNBA Season
Former West Virginia standouts Kysre Gondrezick and Bria Holmes will be in action as the 2021 WNBA season kicks off Friday night.
This season will be Gondrezick’s first as a professional after being selected fourth overall by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA draft last month. Gondrezick played in one of the Fever’s two preseason games last week, scoring two points with three assists in 16 minutes. The Fever begin the season with a road game against the New York Liberty tonight at 7 p.m.

Gondrezick, a Michigan native, averaged 17.1 points per game in three seasons as a Mountaineer. She led WVU to a Big 12 Championship appearanceย and to theย second round of the NCAA womenโs tournament this season, averaging a career-best 19.5 points and 4.5 assists per game en route to being a unanimous First Team All-Big 12 selection.
For Holmes, this will be her fifth professional season and first with the Los Angeles Sparks after signing with the Sparks this offseason. L.A. starts the season at home against the Dallas Wings tonight at 10:30 p.m. (EST). Holmes averaged 17.8 points in two seasons as a Mountaineer.

After being selected 11th overall by Atlanta in 2016, Holmes averaged 7.6 points per game for the Dream between the 2016 and 2017 seasons. After taking the 2018 season off because she was pregnant, Holmes signed with the Connecticut Sun, averaging 5.8 points in 2019 and 2020.
