Former West Virginia point guard Miles “Deuce” McBride worked out for the Los Angeles Angels Saturday, the team announced on social media.

A Cincinnati native, McBride became a star during his second season in Morgantown. He led the Mountaineers in scoring last season, averaging 15.9 points per game. He shot 43.1% from the floor and 41.4% on 3-pointers. He also averaged 3.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists. He announced earlier this month that he would remain in the NBA Draft process and not return to WVU. The 2021 NBA Draft is scheduled to start on Thursday, July 29.

McBride was one of four WVU players to enter their name into the draft process this offseason and the second to commit to turning pro. Forward Derek Culver signed with an agent, giving up his college eligibility, in late April. Guards Taz Sherman and Sean McNeil took their names out of the process and committed to returning to WVU.

Also working out for the Lakers Saturday were Tennessee’s Jaden Springer, Illinois’s Ayo Dosunmu, Seton Hall’s Sandro Mamukelashvili, Texas Tech’s Mac McClung and Florida State’s Balsa Koprivica.
