West Virginia’s transfer portal woes continue. On Tuesday afternoon, WVU starting cornerback Nicktroy Fortune entered his name into the portal, departing from the program.

Fortune played in 29 games, starting in 19 over three seasons at WVU. The Roswell, Ga., native 76 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one interception. Fortune missed the second half of the 2021 season with an injury. Fortune will have one year of eligibility remaining.

West Virginia continues to lose defensive players after the contract extensions of defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley and assistant coaches. The Mountaineers have lost Daryl Porter Jr. and Josh Chandler-Semedo over the past month.
