All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2026 WVU Football Roster.

Max Anderson, back after a redshirt season in 2025, hails from West Virginia’s eastern panhandle, having made history as he led Spring Mills High School to their first-ever state championship appearance in 2024. Despite suffering a loss in the game, Anderson brought home Championship MVP honors and earned an offer from WVU soon thereafter.

Standing six-feet tall and tipping the scale at 208 pounds, Anderson is a dual threat quarterback who threw for 16 touchdowns to just three interceptions as a senior. He also contributed on the defensive side of the ball and scored 11 rushing touchdowns, racking up an otherworldly 11.7 yards per carry.

Anderson’s versatility fits the prototype for a quarterback in a Rich Rodriguez-coached offense, even if it takes him a year or two to earn playing time.

Camp outlook: 2025 served as a development year for Anderson, giving him a chance to learn Rodriguez’s playbook and become acclimated to the speed of the college game.

Projected role: Rodriguez will again be looking to develop Anderson as he will only see the field if multiple injuries occur.

Accolades, highlights: Beyond his success on the gridiron, Anderson helped lead Spring Mills to a West Virginia AAAA state championship in basketball, a testament to his athleticism and versatility. He also took snaps at linebacker during high school, but told West Virginia Sports Now that his recruiting discussions with the Mountaineers centered on playing quarterback.
