Green and Rodriguez first worked together on staff at Louisiana Monroe in 2021. Rodriguez brought Green with him to Jacksonville State in 2022. It was Green’s second stint with the Gamecocks, as he also served as their defensive line coach from 2017-2020. A Florida Gator during his playing days, Green began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater in 2016.
Green is the first defensive coach reportedly added to Rodriguez’s staff at WVU. On offense, Rodriguez will reportedly retain tight ends coach Blaine Stewart and offensive coordinator/running backs coach Chad Scott. Rodriguez is also reportedly bringing over offensive assistants Ryan Garrett and Michael Nysewander from Jacksonville State. Green is the third Jacksonville State assistant to be reported to be joining Rodriguez on the new WVU football staff.
After being hired, Rodriguez said his first staff hire would be a defensive coordinator, which has yet to be announced.
