WVU Basketball Leaps Forward in KenPom After Win Over UC

WVU basketball was able to undo some damage to its KenPom ranking after a 59-54 road win over Cincinnati Thursday.

The Mountaineers previously dropped by double digits in Kenpom after a 63-53 home loss to Baylor. However, Thursday saw WVU go from No. 71 to No. 62 with a net rating of 12.82.

In addition to their comeback win over the Bearcats, West Virginia has a resume of a 70-54 win over Mount Saint Maryโ€™s, a 73-65 win over Campbell,ย a 69-47 victory over Lehigh, a 71-49 domination of Pitt in the Backyard Brawl, aย 81-59 blowout win over Lafayette,ย a 70-38 ย routing of Mercyhurst,ย a 91-49 blowout win over Coppin State,ย a 90-58 win over Little Rock,ย an 86-51 win over MVSU, ย two winsย over Cincinnati, aย 86-75 upset over Kansas, a convincing 72-61 win over Colorado,ย 75-63 road win at Arizona State and aย gritty 59-54 win over Kansas State.

Looking at the rest of the Big 12, Arizona is No. 2, Iowa State is No. 4, Houston is No. 6, Kansas is No. 11, BYU is No. 18, Texas Tech is No. 21, UCF is No. 45, TCU is No. 47, Baylor is No. 53 and Oklahoma State is No. 54.

WVU started last season at No. 87 in the KenPom rankings and ended at No. 51.
