When the WVU women’s basketball team tips off the 2025-26 season, they’ll be doing it with pressure to build on the success of Mark Kellogg’s first two seasons and get the program to another level. But that won’t be easy in a conference as deep as the Big 12.

On Thursday, the Big 12 announced the conference scheduling matrix for the 2025-26 women’s basketball season. Teams will play three Big 12 opponents twice, then play the other 12 conference opponents one time, for a total of 18 conference games.

The Mountaineers are set to play a home-and-away series with TCU, UCF and Cincinnati. Arizona, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Houston will come to Morgantown for the season’s only meeting while WVU hits the road to face BYU, Utah, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Colorado.

West Virginia finished last season ranked No. 21 by the Associated Press. The WVU women (25-8) earned a No. 6 seed in the tournament and played at North Carolina in the Birmingham Region. WVU topped Columbia in the first round before falling to host UNC in round two.

West Virginia finished the season with 25 wins for the second year in a row, marking the team’s first consecutive 25-win seasons in program history.

WV Sports Now uncovered that head coach Mark Kellogg earned an automatic one-year extension in a contract amendment he signed last summer, putting him under contract with WVU through 2030.
