Pitt Loss Makes WVU Basketball Drop in KenPom

WVU basketball dropped eight spots in KenPom after its 75-66 loss to Wake Forest Saturday, but an old opponent suffering a bad loss made the Mountaineers drop even further.

Pitt lost to Hofstra Sunday, and with the Panthers being WVU’s only Power Four win, the Mountaineers are currently rated No. 77. The team’s net rating dropped from 11.48 to 11.30.

West Virginia has a resume that consisted of a 70-54 win over Mount Saint Maryโ€™s, a 73-65 win over Campbell,ย a 69-47 victory over Lehigh, a 71-49 domination of Pitt in the Backyard Brawl, aย 81-59 blowout win over Lafayette,ย a 70-38 ย routing of Mercyhurst and a 91-49 blowout win over Coppin State.

WVU started last season at No. 87 in the KenPom rankings and ended at No. 51.

This season marks the first year of Ross Hodge at the helm of WVU, with the program seeing its fourth head coach in as many years.

Looking at the rest of the Big 12, Iowa State is No. 2, Arizona is No. 5, BYU is No. 9, Houston is No. 10, Kansas is No. 17, Texas Tech is No. 19, Baylor is No. 32, Oklahoma State is No. 47, UCF is No. 52, TCU is No. 58, Colorado is No. 66, Arizona State is No. 73 and Cincinnati is No. 76.
