All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.

Redshirt senior linebacker Reid Carrico transferred from Ohio State to West Virginia ahead of the 2024 season. Receiving a first hand glimpse of the free-for-all nature of the transfer portal during that time, Carrico decided to stay put following Neal Brownโ€™s firing.

After spending most of his time on special teams across three seasons with the Buckeyes, Carricoโ€™s playing time ticked up as his 2024 season with West Virginia went on, showing that he can succeed in an increased role. The 6-foot-2, 229 pound middle linebacker can also provide a veteran voice and stable presence on a team that has endured seismic change.

Last year: Carrico played in 12 games during his first season with WVU Football, starting two. He spent most of his time proportionally on special teams but broke out toward the end of the season, earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors against Baylor.

Stats: The redshirt senior racked up 54 tackles (17 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

Camp outlook: Carrico spoke during the spring practice period about taking on a greater responsibility in helping his teammates this season.

Whether heโ€™s able to build off of his success at the tail end of last season or remains in a similar role, the veteran linebacker seems prepared to contribute on and off the field in any way he can.

Projected role:ย The Mountaineers’ linebacker room has a series of sleeper picks like Ben Bogle and Chase Wilson, transfers from Southern Illinois and Colorado State, respectively, looking to prove that they can succeed at the Power Four level. In a wide open competition, Carrico could earn a starting role; if not, he can continue as a reserve or on special teams.

Accolades, highlights: A four-star recruit out of high school, Carrico earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 16 tackle game against Baylor.
