WVU Basketball Update 6/23: Portal Entries Begin as Players Get Antsy Waiting on Hire

As we enter the weekend, West Virginia is still searching for their next head coach in basketball. Here’s the latest on the news today as a trio of Mountaineers enter the transfer portal within the last 24 hours.
Update (5:38 p.m.)-
Adam Zagoria has added two new coaches in talks with West Virginia: Liberty’s Richie McKay and Tulane’s Ron Hunter.

Update (4:30 p.m.)-
WVU players Jose Perez, RaeQuan Battle and Jesse Edwards are waiting until a new coach is hired to decide on staying or leaving, per Jake Weingarten.
Iโm told that West Virginiaโs Jose Perez, Rae Battle, and Jesse Edwards will wait things out and see who WVU hires as the next head coach, a source told @Stockrisers. All three will wait and see before making any type of transfer decision.

WVU guards Kerr Kriisa and Joe Toussaint enter the transfer portal. Kriisa was a transfer from Arizona this past offseason while Toussaint played at West Virginia for one year.
Update (12:16 p.m.)-
UAB head coach Andy Kennedy is expected to meet with WVU AD Wren Baker over Zoom on Friday.
