Rich Rodriguez Proclaims Confidence in WVU’s Future: ‘I Know What the Hell I’m Doing’
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Even after a 49-0 defeat in the 2025 season finale, Rich Rodriguez was still optimistic about the future of WVU football.
Leaning on his track record, WVU’s head coach explained that he knows what West Virginia’s problems are, and he also knows how to fix them.
“I’ll fix our problems. Some can be fixed pretty quickly. Some may take some time,” he said.
Rodriguez wouldn’t go into much more detail, and even admitted some of the issues will take more time to correct than others, but he knows what needs to happen for the West Virginia program to get back to where he left it many years ago, or even where it reached several years after his departure.
WVU HC Rich Rodriguez says he’s been doing this long enough that he knows the problems and he knows how to fix them.

“I know what the hell I am doing, even if it doesn’t look like it.”
Rodriguez wanted to send one final message to WVU fans before shifting his entire focus to recruiting, especially with December’s National Signing Day taking place next week on Dec. 3.
“We are doing everything we possibly can,” said a still very confident Rodriguez following Saturday’s loss to Texas Tech.
And in addition to his confidence in himself and his staff, Rodriguez also reiterated his trust in the administration, most notably WVU director of athletics Wren Baker. Rodriguez said West Virginia will be in a better position from a financial perspective moving forward, even pointing their recent success in recruiting as proof.
Of course, more proof will be necessary to convince a frustrated fanbase their patience will be eventually rewarded.

1st year was not impressive. 2nd year will tell us whether the game has passed him by… If next year is another losing season, it will be time to consider alternatives.

New to me. He lied about why he left wvu. Coach Stewart pulled a miracle in the desert and the wvu screwed him over.
IU got the only competent former wvu quarterback Go IU!!!
