On Monday, 2026 Florida based cornerback Emari Peterson revealed his commitment to West Virginia after getting back home from his trip to Morgantown.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Peterson referred to his commitment as “dreams to reality” when posting about it on social media.
He selected West Virginia over offers from major programs like Georgia Tech, LSU and Wake Forest as well as others from schools like Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, FAU, Liberty, Southern Miss and Toledo among others.
Peterson attends Maynard Evans High School in Orlando, Fla. Both ESPN and Rivals have awarded Peterson three stars.

In addition to gaining several high school commitments on Sunday, the WVU football staff also added a junior college player. Safety Aaron Edwards joined the commitment party, pledging to become a Mountaineer on social media.
Edwards, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, chose West Virginia over New Mexico, Rutgers, Texas State, Tulsa, UTSA and UTEP.
Rich Rodriguez and the WVU football staff gained a commitment from a 2026 wide receiver in Florida prospect Robert Stith.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Niceville, Fla. native announced his decision with a long post on social media on Sunday after wrapping up his official visit.
Ohio offensive lineman Justyn Lyles has committed to the WVU football program, announcing he picked West Virginia on Sunday.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, Lyles attends Withrow High School in Cincinnati as a 2026 recruit. He was offered by WVU offensive line coach Jack Bicknell in March.

WVU Football flipped the commitment of 2026 three-star offensive lineman Camden Goforth on Sunday, June 15, following an official visit to Morgantown. He received his offer from the Mountaineers on May 23, and announced his decision in a post to Twitter (X).
Goforth, a center who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 295 pounds, originally committed to Coastal Carolina. At his height, a switch to tackle wouldn’t end up out of the question either.
