How Did JJ Wetherholt Perform in MLB Futures Game?

Once a star in college at WVU, JJ Wetherholt is on pace to become a future star in Major League Baseball. As a player distinguished as a future star, Wetherholt took part in the MLB Futures Game ahead of All-Star Week on Saturday.
The former West Virginia Mountaineer and current top prospect of the St. Louis Cardinals was one of two players to stay in throughout the entire game.
Wetherholt went 1-for-4 in the game with a double that led off the game.

For what itโs worth, he was on the winning team – the National League won the game 4-2.

To pick up right where he left off in Double-A, JJ Wetherholt homered in his first game in Triple-A.
Wetherholt went yard in his third at-bat after tripling in his first.
He was promoted from Springfield to Memphis following his first multi-homer game and being named to the National League roster for the MLB All-Star Futures Game.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected Wetherholt with the seventh overall pick in 2024, the highest selection in WVU baseball history. He helped the Mountaineers to an NCAA Super Regional appearance during his final season, setting a series of program records at the plate after breaking out during the 2023 campaign.
Wetherholt began the 2025 season in Double-A and recorded seven home runs, 34 RBI, 44 walks and 14 stolen bases before moving up to Triple-A. He helped the Cardinalsโ Single-A affiliate win the Florida State League championship in 2024, logging the game-winning hit.
