Former WVU Mountaineer Sencire Harris will stay in the Big 12, announcing his transfer to Cincinnati Sunday afternoon.

Harris entered the transfer portal on March 26 following the departure of former WVU head coach Darian DeVries.

A defense-first guard, Sencire Harris transferred to WVU from Illinois last offseason. He and fellow former Illini Amani Hansberry followed associate head coach Chester Fraizer. Frazier has since become the associate head coach at Virginia Tech, where Hansberry transferred to.

Harris started every game in his only season with the Mountaineers, averaging 5.9 points in 26.8 minutes per game. He led West Virginia with 54 steals and was named to the All-Big 12 Defensive Team.

Harris struggled offensively at times, shooting just 39.7% from the floor and 11.3% from three. He started the season 0-28 on three-pointers. Harris scored a career-high 13 points in a win over TCU on Feb. 25 and reached double-digit points two other times.

With the Bearcats, Harris joins up with former WVU point guard Kerr Kriisa, who announced his transfer to Cincinnati earlier in the day Sunday. Harris and Kriisa did not overlap as Mountaineers, as Kriisa transferred to Kentucky for this season, although he spent much of the year injured.

Won’t mean much since WVU will be reloading and have a long road ahead to get to being relative in the B12.

Most teams reload every year and they would’ve had to no matter what. Just how it is today.
