WVU Football Recruiting
West Virginia Football Pursuing 2023 JUCO DL Michael Nwokocha

Beyond transfers and the typical recruitment of high school players, the Mountaineers also look to junior college players who are on the hunt for an opportunity at a bigger school. And West Virginia found a junior college player they like enough to extend an offer.
Michael Nwokocha, a defensive lineman from the 2020 high school class and most recently with Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, announced a conversation with WVU’s defensive line coach Andrew Jackson led to receiving an offer from West Virginia. But due to his experience and ability, WVU is far from the only major program interested in Nwokocha.

Listed at 6’5″ and 290 pounds, Nwokocha is considered among the best junior college players on the market right now. He’s ranked within the top 50 at number 43 nationally, as the number seven player at his position and fourth in the state of Texas, a hotbed area for talent by 247 Sports.
The true barometer of Nwokocha’s worth as a player has been evident in the schools sending him an offers. In addition to WVU, Arizona State, Houston, Indiana, Oklahoma, Purdue, TCU, California, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and most recently the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs have shown interest in Nwokocha.
