Best Virginia to Meet Eberlein Drive as Next Challenge in TBT Final Four

Best Virginia is just two wins away from the $1 million TBT grand prize. The team’s next challenge is Eberlein Drive in the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center at 6 p.m. on Thursday night.
The Mountaineer alumni squad most recently bested Shell Shock, the Maryland alumni team in the quarterfinals by a score of 72-61.
Eberlein Drive comes to Charleston having won every game but one by double-digits. In the Lexington Regional Championship, Eberlein Drive upset the host team, La Familia, the Kentucky alumni team 71-70.
Gabe York leads Eberlein Drive with 19.5 points per game. His 78 points so far in the tournament have him as the fourth-leading scorer of the TBT.
York has an extensive professional career, averaging eight points per game for the 2023 Indiana Pacers.
Jonathan Watson has started every game at the center position. He leads all tournament players in offensive rebounds with 13 and a total of 23, good for 15th in the TBT.
James Reese V has been a key player for Best Virginia. He has racked up 78 points for third in the tournament with a team-high 22.3 points per game.

JD Weatherspoon comes into Thursday’s matchup as an effective post player, averaging 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
WVU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Ross Hodge was in attendance for Monday’s game, where he watched Reese play. Hodge was an assistant coach for Reese at North Texas in …
“I’m not surprised at all that he’s having the success that he’s had,” Hodge said in an interriew on Inside TBT. “He’s a winner. He’s been part of winning programs his whole life. He won two championships at North Texas. He was on the team that upset Purdue in the NCAA Tournament, so it’s been really cool to see.”
Even with Best Virginia being close to the championship, Head Coach Jarrod West Sr. says the team has to take it “one game at a time.”
“Itโs championship or bustโฆ Weโre happy, but we ainโt done nothing yetโฆ Weโre happy to be here. The only way we get to the championship is by being here,โ West said in the postgame press conference after defeating Shell Shock. โSo weโre taking one game at a time. Weโre trying to go 1-0 every game.โ
