Junior College Defensive Tackle Nijel McGriff De-Commits from WVU

Junior college defensive tackle Nijel McGriff announced Friday night that he has de-committed from West Virginia.

McGriff (6-foot-3, 275 pounds) is rated as a three-star JUCO recruit by both 247Sports and rivals. Playing at Northwest Mississippi Community College last season, McGriff racked up 27 tackles with two sacks.

McGriff, a Jacksonville, Florida native, originally committed to WVU on July 13. WVU offered McGriff a full scholarship on Aug. 1. McGriff also has offers from Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Jackson State, Liberty, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Maryland, Memphis and UTSA.

There are now 15 players verbally committed to WVU in the 2021 class. Committed are receivers Davis Mallinger, Andrew Wilson-Lamp and Kaden Prather, running backs Jaylen Anderson and Justin Johnson Jr., offensive linemen Tomas Rimac and Wyatt Milum,  defensive ends Edward VesterinenNijel McGriffBrayden Dudley and Hammond Russell, linebacker Ja’Corey Hammett, tight ends Treylan Davis and Victor Wikstrom, quarterback Will Crowder and safety Saint McLeod.
