4-Star RB Justin Johnson Jr. Commits to WVU

Illinois running back Justin Johnson Jr. has committed to West Virginia he announced via his Instagram.

Johnson (5-foot-11, 190 lbs.) is rated as a four-star recruit by rivals and a three-star by 247Sports. Both also have him as a top-10 recruit from Illinois in the 2021 class. 247 has him at nine and rivals at three.

WVU offered Johnson on Dec. 16 and he visited Morgantown at the end of January.

Johnson’s top-six schools included WVU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Cal, Louisville and Washington State. He also held power five offers from Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and Wyoming.

Johnson is the 14th recruit to commit in WVU’s 2021 class. He is the second running back, joining Jaylen Anderson from Ohio. Also committed are offensive linemen Tomas Rimac and Wyatt Milum, wide receivers Kaden Prather and Andrew Wilson-Lamp, defensive ends Edward Vesterinen, Nijel McGriff, Brayden Dudley and Hammond Russell, tight ends Treylan Davis and Victor Wikstrom, quarterback Will Crowder and safety Saint McLeod.
